Everything You Need to Know
Will there be sessions on how to get accepted into a good UK university?
Yes. On both courses, representatives from UK universities will deliver sessions on how to make a successful application, how to stand out, and what course selectors are looking for in applicants.
Will we get the chance to visit more than one UK university?
Yes. Although your main programme of study and accommodation will be at the Universities of Hertfordshire and Hull, you will also visit other leading UK universities. These visits are designed to help you compare campuses, facilities and programmes, and to give you ideas for your future study plans.
Will the programme be very academic and intensive?
No. The programme balances academic sessions with plenty of social and recreational activities. You will be able to use the universities’ excellent sports, cultural and arts facilities – reflecting the fact that co-curricular activities are a key part of UK university life.
Will all excursions be to other universities?
No. Excursions combine university visits with cultural and leisure experiences.
For example:
- From Hull, a full-day trip to Liverpool includes a visit to the prestigious University of Liverpool and time to explore the city and the world-famous Anfield Football Stadium.
- From Hatfield, visits to London may include sessions with universities such as the University of Westminster and visits to major attractions like the Tower of London and the Houses of Parliament.
Will the host universities cater for dietary requirements and allergies?
Absolutely. Target English International has worked with both universities for over 10 years. They are very responsive to cultural dietary needs and medical allergies. It is essential to us that students can eat safely and well during their stay.
Can you guarantee that I will get into a particular UK university?
No. We cannot guarantee admission to any specific university. Our aim is to give you a realistic taste of UK university life, help you understand your options, and guide you in making stronger applications.
Will the academic sessions focus on only one subject area?
No. The programme is designed to give you an overview of different subject areas and faculties. You may be introduced to themes and taster sessions in areas such as Business, Law, Medicine and Engineering, among others.
Will we meet current UK university students?
Yes. You will have the chance to meet and interact with current university students – both from the UK and from other countries. This gives you the opportunity to ask direct questions about student life, academics, accommodation and anything else you want to know from people your own age.
